Cayuga Duck Club!

I'm here too! I have four Cayuga ducks. I thought all four were female, until yesterday when Squeakers mounted Babbles in the water pond! (I wouldn't have known what the heck they were doing if I hadn't been on here reading) There is no drake feather on him. The first two we got in April, and I loved them so much I got two more in May. They are not laying yet. I had no idea they would breed so early. We were thinking that duck was a male, reading on here about the quacks and the rasp. He is a fatty, too!

He could still be a female! Girl duckies mount each other too. The voice is really what determines it!

Here's my two: Samurai (Sammy) and Dwayne "The Duck" Johnson lol...both hens now...names didn't change...Sammy has a small feather poof on her head and slightly smaller that's how i tell the difference now.

Here are some pictures of my cayugas all grown up. They are bored since I cooped them up in the shed with the cold weather. They have been jumping up and getting my gardening stuff off the shelves. Lol.

My male Skipper is so beautiful and such a gentle giant. The Pekin Marshmallow and Black Swedish Junior wanted to be in the picture too. You can't tell but all of them are missing their feathers on their back. A family members dog got ahold of all of them this week and killed one. She was so beautiful. Little foot will be missed.

My Christmas present to myself was a new camera so I am trying out different lenses and you can obviously tell. I know nothing about them other than point and shoot.

I was wondering what experience you all have had with Cayugas and brooding? Do they do it well and are they good Moms?

How gorgeous they are and look great considering what happened.

I know nothing about their brooding behavior although have been following a Pekin who just brooded and hatched her first ducklings.

My Cayuga's certainly have grown! About 12 weeks I saw my drake mating this morning already!

I could look at your duck pics all day! So pretty! I have four Cayuga's! I'm not sure why I have such different pairs. I'm not sure the first pair are true Cayuga. They are more skinny than my second pair, which are a lot heavier duck. I bought them a month apart.

They are beautiful!

I have some who are smaller than others and have been that way since they hatched.
