That’s so neat they have their own look! I love the crests. Thank you for showing them to me. I’m putting mine in the incubator tonight.

Good luck. Do share pictures when they hatch! That’s so neat they have their own look! I love the crests. Thank you for showing them to me. I’m putting mine in the incubator tonight.![]()
I have an incubator but haven't hatched anything yet. I think I will cut her off today. There will be 16 eggs down there tonight after work. How do I know which ones to take? I didn't mark any, shoot. But I think I can tell which ones are the oldest, so I'll take those and leave her 10. Then I will keep taking the extras from now on.I think it depends on the duck. Some may never sit. You will just have to wait and see. If she does end up sitting, I’d take some out while she’s off the nest. If they get too many, she may not be able to keep them all warm. Some will sit for awhile and then not return to finish hatching them. But you won’t know until you try it.
I have read that they are not good mothers lolI say that because Cayugas aren’t terrible mothers but aren’t great either. (You could have awesome ones, I’m just speaking generally). Khaki Campbell’s are excellent layers and mothers, but aren’t as friendly in my opinion. So each breed has their own quirks.
Let us know how it works out!!!
A friend of mine gave me a wax pencil to use. I will start writing the dates on them. I need to use the incubator. I have plugged it in and maintained it for three weeks with eggs but candled them and nothing. I guess I'm afraid I'll kill one, and that would kill me. I think I will take four and incubate them.If I were you, I’d start putting dates on them each day with a sharpie. That way when she’s satisfied and sitting, you can slowly take out the ones without dates since you’ll know their older. I would leave them for now unless she starts breaking them because there are so many.
You could also move the older ones to the incubator if you know how to work it. Then hopefully you’ll get those cute little webbers one way or another.
