Check all the Craig's lists for New York. I know I saw a couple of ads in the Albany edition for Cayugas a few weeks ago. Fertilized eggs were $1 each. I think the same person had several other kinds of ducks as well. PM me for the phone number (I saved it for future reference). Not sure it would be proper to post it online.
I was able to find a breeding trio! They are beautiful. I am hoping to get some fertile eggs from them to hatch out so the babies will bond with us. In 2 days, I have gotten 3 eggs and 2 were not fertile. Any ideas - do they need water to breed like some ducks do?
So I have started up the incubator, read many posts about hatching out duck eggs - temperature 99.5 degrees in a forced air, 60% humitity, and now waiting for the incubator for 24 hours to be regulated. I also had 2 pure-bred ameraucana hens (that I planned on breeding) become broody (so much for breeding them). So I plan on putting some of the eggs I have collected under them. Thank you for all that have posted step by step how to use the incubator! Also for the person who suggested looking on craigslist where I found these beautiful ducks. Now I just have to be patient
