You can do that

Just like out a secure large cage or something around her with the top covered with chicken wire or something . Also be sure the cage is secure from predators and put in some food and water ( just for the mothers safety )

Man, I think ducklings might grow just as fast, maybe a tiny bit faster than geese. I swear those ducklings have doubled in size and they are only 6 days old!

I have Chinese and African, and they grew fast. I was amazed. I now have 2 each of the following ages, 15 week, 9 weeks, 8 weeks, and 5 week old goslings. And boy do they explode around the time they get their pin feathers. It's amazing.
The ducklings grow even faster. I can tell they have nearly doubled in size. I can also compare their size to Ebony, their foster mom and they are taller and easily climb up her back now. Before they had to work to get up there. This kind of growth has to put a serious strain on the ducklings bodies though. I am concerned about that.

I haven't had to go through a molt yet, so no idea what that will do to my babies growth. This is my first year with chickens, ducks, and geese. My parents had some when I was a child, and I remember a lot. But now I am the caretaker and learning all the stuff I didn't know then. The ducks were purchased full grown with the females at point of lay, 2 (Ebony and Daisy) were laying when brought home, Ivory has not laid yet. 15 weeks is how long I have had my chickens and geese, purchased from a feed store, and I have only lost 1 chick (due to a stupid accident that could have been prevented) and 1 gosling (lost to niacin deficiency). Now I have these ducklings, and they are my last set of babies for this year. After 15 weeks I have 8 geese, 7 ducks, and 32 chickens (tomorrow we go down to 28 after I cull 4 cockerels that have been attacking some of my pullets and younger geese).

this may be a stupid question. but can some poultry get crabby when molting? I can't remember where I heard that, just that someone said birds in a molt can be more difficult to handle than normal.
