Cayuga ducks

I am an owner of four pet ducks. Two are Cayuga. The other two are Rouen. I am looking for a simple idea of how to bring the ducks inside sometimes that is easy cleanup. Thinking pet gates?? It’s 16 degrees outside today and I know they aren’t freezing to death but I feel bad for them. I give them warm water and I can see the smiles on their faces
Welcome! We have brought our babies into the garage when its been really cold. It doesn't get too warm in the garage but keeps their water from freezing and not a big temperature shock when we move them outside during warmer temps during the day. Put down cardboard (to soften and insulate the concrete) with a plastic liner on top and towels to cover the plastic. We have a mobile coop over that. They have a tupperware nesting box filled with straw and a small tub to rinse off. Its super messy to have just our two ducks inside but worth the cleanup to keep them happy. If their coop is warm enough they should be able to stay outside but we have had an extra cold winter here that we didn't expect. Still learning and hope your ducks are doing well :)

My friend had ducks, geese and chickens. I remember her always having to dump dirty, muddy water out of these blue plastic swimming pools and adding fresh water. She used a lot of water. The chickens always had dirty feet from the mud. Ducks and geese like to be wet and the chickens like to be dry. I don't think she knew what she was doing by mixing their environment, but I may be wrong. Welcome to BYC.

I've raised many ducks with my mother, and only recently bought four baby Cayuga's and have them inside. I would section off and area in the house and put down plastic and old blankets or sheets and set up their "home". But our adult ducks don't seem to mind the cold and snow. Well, they've had trouble getting around when the snow got to deep for them and had to remain in their pens (they weren't happy about that).

They survived the winter and even loved the snow. On the coldest nights I would see them outside their house even when they could go in with their heat lamp. It was unusually cold this year for the midwest so I guess they will be fine. Thanks for the advice!
