Cayuga Ducks?

Yah.. I think I would have a heart attack if I DID find somebody around here.... but I have been lucky because my hatchery Cayugas are still beautiful, with those lovely beetle-green, blue and some purples in their feathers. In the sun they are magnificent!

Where did you get yours?

The feed store gets their chicken stock from Ideal Poultry (wow, close to the holidays "chicken stock" has a far different meaning!) but their waterfowl from Metzer Farms. I didn't know this when I bought them, but they do not sell them sexed - straight run.

Metzer Farm sells sexed waterfowl, but my favorite feed store only buys the straight run ducklings. So I ordered my Cayuga girls from Metzer Farms.

I had heard that they loose their coloring as they age, but this is amazing to me. I didn't think THIS would happen....she is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! She could pass for an Ancona. WOW....I am curious to see how mine will age. I am so happy you shared this picture, because, like I said, I would have NEVER thought this was a Cayuga.

Sexed ducklings that is what I'll need to get since I have 2 drakes [Muscovy] don't need anymore drakes at the present time, my only problem with introducing another breed is I have to keep everyone together, so I will probably have to wait till my Muscovy start dieing off. Did I even say that. Then I'll just have girls and won't have to worry about the 2 breeds mixing. Not that I would mind but would like to keep the 2 separate from breeding

I have 12 eggs from my SQ flock that I need to sell. $18 shipped
all pure now no other ducks are running with them anymore.

Yup, she's a Cayuga! Here's a picture of her outside 2 days ago before we brought her inside to live out the rest of her days. We have a bedroom for disabled critters inside our home set up for her and a Call duck that had broken her back that healed. She's enjoying whatever time she has left. We absolutely adore her.

And this is Juno. Juno is a 4 1/2 year old Cayuga that is a rehome. We took her in 2 1/2 years ago. You can see by her picture that she is turning white also.

Thats is such a sweet pic. of Sally i had no idea they turned white, I have a 9year old Muscovy drake that looks exactly like he did when we got him, so is it just the solid blacks that turn white? and Juno only being 41/2 thats still young.

Muscovy's are genetically more closely related to geese than they are to ducks, I've been told so I don't know about how their colors will change.

I have a friend who has a 5 year old Black Runner who's turning white as well. He's solid black too. I don't know if its genetics or what but first Sally and now Juno both are turning white.

I absolutely adore these two girls!!

The other thing that I wanted to mention was that Sally was laying eggs every two days until this past summer. So she continued to lay until she was 10 years old as well!

WOW....that is a LOT of eggs. Amazing that they turn THAT white! I imagined them looking like Juno......wow, gorgeous birds.

Those pics of the Cayugas.....beautiful. I LOVE this breed. I have two boys and a girl with the rest of my flock. Would love to have pure babies, but not gonna happen. Dang.
