Cayuga or Pekin?

I think Giant pekins are more like meat chickens, but they get really, really big for a duck. My pekin was admittedly a bit bigger, and she couldn't jump very high, but she would walk and run plenty every day and seemed to be in great health

jumbo pekins? “meat” birds or not i think they still deserve a loving home and good life ❤️

that is not true at all!!! i know so many people who have pekins and have some my self. they are loving, friendly ducks who will live just as great of a life as any other breed (with proper care of course, but that’s a requirement for all ducks)

Usually, problems start occurring after 2-3 years of age, they are not a long-lived breed at all, the ones that do live old require a generous amount of care to keep them happy and healthy.

Have fun with your Cayugas! My Cayuga crosses are very sweet and have different personalities than my other ducks. They are quieter, as others have stated; they quack less and their quacks are lower pitched.
They also dislike being handled more than my other ducks, but they are some of the first to come for treats!
