~The Dove Family~
The mother was sitting in the nest yesterday morning (Mach 9th), as usual. I saw one of the squabs on the side of the nest, very unusual and thought to myself " I hope that's not a dead one".
I go out quickly to see, nope. Gone. Dead. So now she is down to one squab who seems to be doing well so far. The squab that hatched first seemed unwell from the beginning. Seems like he didn't absorb the yolk correctly. I would have tried to save him if it clicked to me that he didn't look well. 😔 He also seemed to have splayed leg.
Anyway, here is the lone baby, it was snuggling under my hand. Today was a "cold" day

That is so sad to hear. I hope the last baby makes it through. Keep us posted on it's journey. ❤️

Was going through photos from the security cam late yesterday, and saw that a cat had come through at 1am scaring off the Mama. If I would have seen it sooner, I would have tired to save the baby! It was cold that night and died since it couldn't keep warm.

Both parents have been coming back. They seem to be having a hard time acknowledging that it died. 🥺 They were sitting by their food a water just looking and watching.

Mama looks pretty sad with her tail down.😏

Omg that's so sad and that picture you captured really has some emotion to it. I feel their feelings. I get it though last night our temps dropped and I just rescued some abandoned baby chicks and you better believe I was outside rigging up a heat light situation for them. Sorry for their loss but hopefully they will give another go at it. ❤️

I'm all locked in for the wild dove journey.

Aww! Do you mean chicken chicks? 💕

I'm sure they will lay more, or at least I hope so! I'm also keeping a close eye on some White Winged doves in the trees at the back of the property! I'll be posting pics of them when I go back there. 🕊️💕

Went to the nursery and they had just put out all the little cute cati and house plants! I couldn't keep myself from getting one some! View attachment 4310514View attachment 4310515View attachment 4310516
My favorite book!

The cacti on this last pic, I have one of those and it sure does populate. Anytime one of those " leaves" if I may falls off it will create a new baby. They don't even need to really be buried in dirt. Mine just fell o top of the soil and started growing roots and before you know you got 5 extra plants :lau

Yes I meant chicken chicks. I found them wondering my yard. I guess the mom abandoned them or something. I have several hens laying and hatching so I was not sure who their mom was so I am taking care of them
