I am new to the whole chicken deal, but I have read here not to use cedar shavings for the chickens. I couldn't do that with other small pets, so it makes perfect sense. But can I use cedar boards (about 3/4" x 3") for the outside of my coop?
I am planning on insulating, probably with foam board, and using fake walnut paneling sheets for the interior walls. So far all of my materials are free, but I would rather look longer for the outside materials than put my hens-to-be at risk. On the other hand, I need to get the coop built while it's still warm! Would the cedar be safe?
