Celadon Hatch. Day 17. Can't stop watching... Very Nervous...

How is everyone doing today?
Nobody else has hatched. We're pretty sure they are done.

I think everyone understands about the "accidental death" of the chick we opened and that raising quail means learning as we go.

We hopefully have enough to just breed our own to hatch. When is the latest in the year we want to hatch chicks? Or should I say.... when are the best times of year to hatch chicks?

How long should I wait after my chicks start laying/mating to have viable eggs?

Whenever the eggs are a good weight, and are fertile. That may be soon or quite a while. Since most quail lines are bred to have eggs around 13-15 grams, I wait until the eggs weighed around that much to hatch from my younger birds.
