Can chickens eat raw celery ? I thought of chopping this up with the green from the stalks and feed it to them . Will this hurt them ?

As far as I know they can eat it, wether or not they do is up to them.

Mine eat it-- no chopping needed for them, they tore it apart-- I had some bunches left in the garden that got too old to eat ( hit with frost) and I tossed them in the run along with the non producing brussels sprouts plants, and they make quick work of both. I've given them just about every veggie from my garden "leftovers" and they eat it all.

How old are your hens . majority of mine are 8 and 9 months old .

I was hoping it would not effect them or cause eggs to taste celery . YUCK

Mine are 4-6 months old- some laying, some not. They've had lots of celery, as well as lots of cabbage and brussels sprouts ( and their plants). Neither seem to impart any odd flavor to the eggs.

UPDATE :

I just served them celery and the green stalks and added a can of baby corn to that . and had leftover baked sweet potatoes ( less the peelings ) and they ALL but attacked me for more . LOL

My chickens dont seem to like celery. I have tried it twice and they dont eat it but, I think it is ok to feed it to them.
