CENTRAL FLORIDA (Gainesville) SWAP MEET - FEB. 21st

Hi - I'd love to attend a get-together, if only to meet nearby chicken enthusiasts! I have nothing to trade, but would love to get to know folks that enjoy their chickens like I do.

Well the meet was going to be at Kelly's but some of her chickens are sick, so where, when and if has not been discussed. You can always offer suggestions.

Kelly,
Awhile ago, I had some Old English that had the same symptoms. I got in touch with a prof at UF and he recommended Liquimycin 200. Instead of injecting them, I measure it out with a syringe and take the needle off and put directly in their mouths. I did something wrong one time injecting one, and she died and I won't inject again. I have used the Liqumycin 200 at the sign of a cold(resp noises, eyes crusting up) and it works great! I have also used Tylan and given by mouth, even though Tylan seems to be much stronger. I have never lost one by giving these antibiotics by mouth, and makes me fell better when after a couple of days, they are better too! I have tried the soluable, but you never know if they are getting enough. So far, I have had the best luck by mouth. I feel your pain...

Yes, I do. I am a member of the Poultry Site forum also, and everyone talked about giving Liqumycin & Tylan orally instead of injecting and I tried it and it works. For small bantams(OE, Sikie,Mille Fleur, etc) I give a 1/4 cc and I have never had a problem.

Very Cool!! I will have to try it, but hope not to soon. It's a double edge sword, wanna try a new med. don't want sick birds to have to try it on...
Thanks for the info..
