First time chicken owners and our oldest Wyandotte chickens turned18 weeks old this week. Last week we put some ceramic eggs into the nesting boxes to encourage our chickens to use the nesting boxes once they start. We also have some other Wyandotte pallets that are six weeks younger. When should we remove the ceramic eggs? We don’t want to encourage broodiness in our girls.

Thanks for linking that, I’ve been wondering the same. We are only getting one egg a day (two pullets have begun laying) so one toddler gets the real one and the other toddler grabs a ceramic egg .. I keep forgetting to take them back to the coop so I guess we will just continue to slowly remove them lol.

A lot of members on here leave fake eggs in their coop all the time. you can help to encourage your ladies to use all the next boxes and not all fight over one.
Like this?!!! :D
