one other point.....if you are using a chainsaw, at least get yourself a pair of safetly chaps...nothing will mess up your day like cutting into your leg.....

OH and dont sit a hot chainsaw in the snow....learned that one the hard way back in the day....froze up solid when I went back to use it after my coffee break... Course it was -40'C....

I have Dolmar, Stihl, I don't consider the junk like Polen and other cheap brands. Husky is real good and also echo chainsaws are nice.

Happy new years.

omran , its not polen but Poulan and any saw man would consider a poulan a good saw, if they were a good sawman. if you were local i'd show you a gooooooooood Poulan saw. the average can make Stihl run good.

yea yea yea big boys toys you sound like my hubby with the husqavarna sp? he just had to have then it had to be the biggest one then it had to be the longest bar so uhm my pocket book empty and hubby with a heavy duty farm and ranch 800.00 stinkin chainsaw ..... and nooooooo we couldn't start at the back of the property oh nooooo we had to cut down four trees right in the front uggghhhhh yea boys and their toys lovin it NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

c'mon the4heathernsmom, you know guys are crazy about them toys. my wife dont like my saws because she thinks i'm going to get mangled by one someday or a big twisted tree is going to get me. but i'll let you in on a secret, it's my favorite toy she really dont like a 79 souped up 4 speed t-top big block Trans Am, she says its a baby blue coffin. back to the coffee and yall have a great day.

Fatboy you should have seen the old Mall I picked up at a flea market this summer. I don't know how old it was but defianalty vintage. I got all kinds of looks and comments as I was carrying it back to the truck. When I got home I weighed it and it weighed 35 pounds. I don't think I would have wanted to lug that thing around all day. Wish I would have gotten a picture of it. I showed it to my brother a couple of days after I got it and he just had to have it so I sold it to him. Well, a few days later I found out he traded it off. I thought he wanted it to keep or I wouldn't have sold it to him. That's what family is for I guess.

That must have been Paul Bunyon's Maul. The biggest I have seen is 15#.

When it comes to chainsaws too much power is barely suffcient. When I bought my 044 I just had to hot rod it a bit. I replaced the stock air filter with a holeshot, did a little port polishing and opened up the muffler a bit.

As for long bars. I use to have trouble with my feet getting in the way.

But since I went to the long bar I have had no trouble. This is because with long bar you don't have to bend over so ya have better control of the saw.

I finally have some time this weekend to try and fix the sticky saw I mentioned a bit earlier in this thread. Wish me luck! BTW- Omran, nice shop ya got, wish you lived closer to me, I'd just bring my saws to you for fix'n.
