Change in Humidity in an Automatic Incubator (R-Com 20) (Day 18)

Does this darkish blob always move, should it only take up half the shell as in top to bottom half and not air sac to point ?
It was moving about 2 days ago and it seems very still today with its head by the air sac
The veins were visible by the air sac 2 days ago and today according to my chart is day 18 and it is a Pekin/Cochin Bantam chick
Any thoughts - or just leave it and see what happens ?

Regards
Dr Rob.

I've never had this happen with my RCOM 20. If I set it at 40, or 45, or 65 it never wavers - and it shouldn't! If there is an increase in the humidity in the incubator for some reason, the computer will decrease the amount of water it evaporates into the body; conversely if there is a decrease in humitiry the computer will increase the amount of evaporation into the body of the incubator. If there was an increase in humitidy that was anything more than transient (and I mean a couple of minutes!) then I would be concerned that the incubator was malfunctioning.

Just because the previous owner has hatched "1000's" doesn't mean to say she is right about everything... she may have just been very lucky!

Yeah, I'd agree with that. The whole point of the automatic humidity control is to smooth out variations in humidity. Your bator shouldn't be doing this!

It is fine again now - what had happened is that I had overfilled it slightly and the excess water was in the grey bottom of the unit so when this was warm it was giving a higher reading on the display obviously this could not be regulated by the computer.

Cheers Everyone
