I'm so sorry.
Thank you so much! She really was such a friendly little lady, even laid an egg today☹ I told my husband last week despite her large comb she was having a hard time with this heat +humidity and I was worried about her. Today it was 107 real feel 112, damn ridiculous! I'll never get another one again. I'm down to 4 hens (1 is the broody) and 2 pullets. I just hope everyone else makes it through this nasty summer!

That's so sad.

I guess in your area you need to stick to Mediterranean breeds?

Idk, it just doesn't make sense, my WTB that has a modified pea does fine, along with my brahma, my Welsummer and OE are a gimme because their combs are huge, but my other 2 new additions BLRW and favaucana don't seem to be having a super hard time. 🤷 colthandorf lives 3hrs north of me (even hotter) and has English orps. We're going to be making some adjustments the next couple weeks, this weekend I need to get the chicken yard lined with HWC to keep the littles in (I've been meaning to anyway) and my husband is going to cut a bottom opening long window on the west side of the coop, I'm also going to the nursery up the road to look for a dwarf tree or bush for inside the run. One more day of these ridiculous temperatures and we'll go back to "normal" for awhile. Thank you again ❤

They grow so fast! This was from Wed❤ They're 2 weeks old today

Decided to go hang with the ladies and littles after work, my brahma (Maribel) is having some shell issues so I made her a special mash and Prue, Piper and the littles ate out of the big pan, Freya and Lilly eat after everyone else is done. I think the almost fully feathered light one on front and the dark chocolate one are girls...I know it's way too early to be sure but they have almost no comb, 2 of the others have prominent combs and 1 is up in the air.

I went out this morning before work to give everyone fresh water and when Prue and her littles came running up my favorite little red chick had sprouted the biggest reddest comb over night, I mean he did not have that thing yesterday when I was out there watching them like the crazy chicken lady that I am :lau I'm gonna get a pic of this little man when I get home, it's just crazy, smh

The littles are big as all get out, 4 weeks 2 days old, I'm pretty sure I have a pair with the chocolates and a trio with the Isabels, and Lilly is just becoming so pretty 😍
