My pullets usually all darken up a tad within the first week. The dark speckles you see are what her potential is to possibly cover the egg either fully are partial. No guarantees of course but in case you didn't know, I've always read Chooks man say in the Marans thread to watch their first 20-30 eggs, this gives us the average true egg color they will lay.
Here's a few pics just to show what I mean for comparison.

It is a bit darker, I'm really hoping they darker up quite a bit. They both came out of really brownish auburn eggsIt appears darker than the 1st...
