How can you convince a chicken to roost somewhere else? We have a pet chicken, the last of a pair, that insists on roosting on our front porch and doing her stuff all over the wicker furniture. I have moved her, provided other roosting sites in the barn, removed the chair she was roosting on, but she chooses to be nearest her "family" (us) and roost on the front porch. She also hangs out at the back door when not foraging around in the yard. I know she is lonely, and we are raising a few other hens to eventually try to put in a house with her. But for now, the poop factor on the front porch is causing strife in the family. Any ideas?

you can pen her see if that breaks her from roosting on your porch an chairs.but leave her penned for 3 months before letting her out.i had a hen that loved roosting in the garage.penned her up for 6 months.turned her she went back to roosting in garage.then penned her up for good.never let her out again.
