Hello all!

I am a new chicken mama and I’ve been trying to switch my chicks’ waterer over to a hanging one with a nipple for weeks (at least 3). They all know how to use the new one. They’re 4 weeks and 5 weeks. How long can I safely leave the one they prefer out of the brooder, so they only have access to the one they don’t like? I don’t want to dehydrate them, and I think they’re drinking because it’s going down. However, I don’t know how to know if it’s enough water, and maybe if I should just give up on the new one. Thank you!

If you've seen them all using the nipples (so you know they know how to use it), I'd take away the old one, and just keep an eye on them the next few days. Obviously want to make sure water level is going down, and that any time they're at the nipples that they're toggling it correctly and actually getting water to drink.
