Thanks Mary. I was thinking exactly the same. The few people that have them around here are all from the same breeder. She actually created the line from scratch. I'm thinking that I'm going to have to invest in some hatching eggs from another province.

Have you joined or checked out the breed club? There's a list of breeders on the website, and I'd love to be able to get some from Canada. Importing is so difficult/ expensive.

Ok. I have a separate coop for my chants. Right now I only have white. This is my first hatch of the year. What's wrong with this picture?

I'm driving to Kelowna BC to pick up some hatching eggs in a few weeks.

WOW! Dominant white with recessive ??? Where did that come from?
So far my hatchery Cackle chicks have all been white, although a few have had green legs, and one, two years ago, had a rose comb.
What other rooster got to those hens?

I'm thinking that 2 of my roos were actually from my buckeye/silkie hen & a chantecler roo. I thought that it was just RIR popping through, but obviously not. Unfortunately I couldn't tell her eggs apart from the chants. Needless to say they're all moved out of the coop now.
