Thanks for the kind words! I really like my Chanties, and all of them have good size and feather quality. I've got (only) eight chicks this summer, so a small group to chose from, but two or three pullets, and hopefully one of the cockerels will stay. They all had very yellow legs, faded in the hen, who's producing well, and Solo, my cock, has faded leg color too. Anyone know why? He's not laying eggs!!! Mary

Interesting. Let me know what you find out. Are you seeing any cockerels from them with a less leghorn-ish tail, or are not not particularly looking for eliminating that?

I had no thought about that; I picked size first, frame, comb type, and steady temperament. My biggest cockerel two years ago had a pea comb! He went to another flock. Last year's pick just wasn't as nice as Solo, and was less calm, and left this spring. This year's babies are just under ten weeks of age, and I haven't made any decisions yet. I'd better get the SOP back out again! Mary

Gotcha. Looks like you have nice frames in them; so I didn't know if you were bothering with that yet or if more necessary traits weren't solid yet.
