I see so may different looking younger Partridge Chantecler's on all websites/forums. My girls/guys all look so different, I find some pictures look more like Welsummer's (I have some of those too) way more than they look like Partridge Chantecler. Mine are about 12 weeks old, a few of them have feathered feet. I think they are gorgeous - but they don't look like other Partridge Chantecler? I kid you not, these picture's don't do justice to how colorful these chickens are - it's stunning really, don't you think? I have some others mixed in with the PC's...

I have 2 with feathered feet - and their feet are pinkish yellow?

Also wondering if pic #3 is a pullet? From what I've read only the males have this coloring and green tail feathers...but her mannerism is all pullet and she sticks with the young cockerel all day long. They all seem to have soft blue down under their top feathers too??

I have 2 with feathered feet - and their feet are pinkish yellow?

Also wondering if pic #3 is a pullet? From what I've read only the males have this coloring and green tail feathers...but her mannerism is all pullet and she sticks with the young cockerel all day long. They all seem to have soft blue down under their top feathers too??

The third photo from the top is of a cockerel, and not a Chantecler. He has a single comb - probably a partridge Plymouth Rock.
When they are that age the way to tell is look at the new feathers coming out on the back just in front of the tail. If they are pointed it is a cockerel, if rounded it is a pullet - at least for most breeds. There are a few exceptions for breeds that are hen feathered, such as Campines or Sebrights.

#3,,,I don't know what sex it is but the comb is not a cushion comb as required in Chanteclers, I hope you got what you were after when buying these birds.

I am looking forward to receiving Albertan eggs from Rhoderunner in June . . . , NOT for which one is 'best' but what each has to offer as a homestead dual purpose breed. I am already pretty sure that each of these will have much to offer and have their proponets, and that the Albertan will standout in a number of ways.

Albertan?? You mean Partridge Chantecler, right? The name Albertan was effectively done away with in 1935 by the APA Standards Committee.
