That little guy could be a Spangled Orloff, or a mix with one, since Sandhill also carries them. I was actually checking out this thread because of the similarities in the two breeds!

I have some buffs coming from Sand Hill this week...going to add them to my existing flock. Myself and a friend have already received 2 shipments of birds from Sand Hill this year...and I'm so not impressed. My friend has actually received A LOT of "mutts" from them...supposed to be purebreds. But that off-color Chant is very pretty.

I agree that's an Orloff chick.

I'm giving away Partridge Chantecler cockerels (I'm still not sure I can sex them, but I'm going to try at this point anyway, despite it being by minor color differences) for the cost of shipping if anyone wants them. They are from Blehm and are June 14 hatches.

Let me know if you're interested.

If that's one of Sand Hill's Orloffs, I'd really be afraid to find out what is "in it".

While it's outrageously pretty, it's definitely got a very odd color pattern for a spangled Orloff.

It does look more mille fleur than spangled.

A friend ordered Welsummers from Sandhill a few years ago. Glenn sent Light Brown Leghorns as extras. They all looked alike as chicks. They all looked alike as adults. Lo and behold they all[the pullets] laid snow white eggs. He didn't learn and ordered Barred Hollands the next year. Barred Rocks as extras. When they still all looked alike when you could sex them he sent them to an auction. Tom

I bought a few Jersey Giants (10 mths old) that came from Sandhill in 2009. Had to cull every one of them. They were nice and big, but that was about it. Yellow foot pad extended up the legs, etc, etc....

I should balance my post with some good things about Sandhill. With the Barred Hollands he ordered a few White Chanteclers. One grew into a very competitive SQ contender. A few months ago I saw some Lafleche and Buff Catalanas that had come from Sandhill. Both breeds looked very good. Good enough that I bought some Lafleche hens. Tom

Hehe, we need to start a thread in the Hatcheries section about which of Sandhill's breeds are worthwhile and which aren't! It seems like some are good and others...well, perhaps they haven't had as much time to dedicate to some breeds and we'll just leave it at that!
