Chantecler Thread!

Pics
Bruce...look at this bird, and compare her to my pullet, and see the difference between the 2 birds ?

This is not my bird, btw....
but you can see how the females carry a slight striped neck feathering and are a deeper chocolate brown rather than a orangy brown.
My goal is a Crele Albertan...Crele Chantecler.
Trying to get my leghorn hens to stand still for a pic is difficult...
Off she runs.................

So, now you can see where my pullet carries a Crele gene ?

Edited to add: You are looking at the colors & type of feathers, not the body type of the 2 birds mentioned.

Hi Robin,
I went looking for the Crele patterning "standard" and WHAT A MESS!

Asking what a Crele looks like is like asking what an Easter Egger looks like.
Well, it could look like this, or this or this, or that or maybe that

Some I find quite beautiful, like the one in your last post and your girl in post 863 (though I'm not sure pink is here color

). Others, well, not so much.

I love the coloration of the hackle feathers. I have Buff Chantes. They are sweet and funny to watch. Looking to rehome some young cockerels as they will make good show birds and flock leaders. Maybe, I have to try a few Partridge now.

I am in NC. just south of Charlotte NC. I would love for you to have 2 or 3 of my roos, but don't know how that would work with the distance between us. Any ideas?

You each drive the 6 or so hours to Nashville, and swap the roosters in the parking lot of the Grand Ole Opry after the show!

An attractive bird. But why do it?? With the breed numbers so low right now it seems counter productive when there are other real Crele breeds. Jake
My idea is there is ALOT of Partridge Albertans.................................then there is 1 Crele..............................so, do the math & ask yourself...should I help this coloration...or that coloration of the Albertan ?

And IF you have a big flock all over your yard free ranging.....do you want Partridge, or do you want to help this sole Crele Sport and have a Crele Albertan flock ?

Honestly...it is no work, they do & have multiplied since I have had the one sport...............so ask yourself...I myself have done so, and have reasoned that the sole "sport" needs more help than the thousands of Partridge.
Just sayin'

And please note...no one "did it"........................"it" just happened...and that is what a "sport" is.
