Charcoal grey chick - gender? New video: this bird lays eggs and crows

Do you have roosters in your flock? I've read that sometimes the most dominant hen will express roo-like behavior (i.e. crowing) when there is no roo present. A friend of mine has a crowing hen, not a lot of people do. It's an old superstition that a crowing hen is the bearer of bad news

There is no rooster, so it seems that this one is taking the dominant role. She's the only one who won't stop and let me pet her when I go into the run.

okay, i listened and watched, and it sounded like a hen making the loudest BAWK! she can.
gotta tell ya, i love it.
did anyone notice the bird next to her looking at her like,
"what is your problem girl?"

I got a laugh when the black hen walked away in embarrassment. My pet RIR hen I had as a girl went through 'henapause' and at 7 years did the same thing.

"Henapause" -- that's great. This chicken is only a year old, so I hope it's not hormonal.

This morning she started crowing at 7am --- and it was loud! (The video from yestereday is posted on the blog link below).
