I always wonder how people live in climates where it is both freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer.

Not sure how the human body can manage to adjust to that.

For me it a matter of pure INTOLERANCE

When I was growing up in Denver, there would be snow one day and 50 or 55 deg the next day, Never below 0. But I liked the snow, just not the cold

Alaska stuff..

my favorite long underwear is my Bergelene by EMS. But I would think that any "high performance" kind would work great.

I also like my long underwear top that is cashmere and wool, a very thin almost sheer knit. The real secret is lots of layers and WIND protection, and remember, a really warm hat is the most important thing.

OK, and I looked through my photos..... I couldn't find a single picture of the leaves all yellow etc. like I described. sheesh...

anyway, here is a picture in August the flower that is blooming is the fireweed I was talking about.

and here is a close up of the fireweed leaves, when they are starting to change color...this was taken in September one year.

DH was wondering if Homer is near the Kenai Penusala? We'll look it up. So many places we'd love to see! We are going on a 4 day Holland cruise, with land travel/stays the remainder of the trip. Thanks for the cruise tip re" cold viewing decks...just hope they have a warm pool somewhere!
