I was so tired, my eyes were all messed up from working in the dirt, dirt in my contacts....not fun. I actually had to flush out my eyes with contact solution![]()
I have a pic of the progress to post. The only thing that is not in the pic is the wire on the top back 2/3. We did that last night after I got the pic......after dark.......I have decided to go with a thatched roof. I have no idea what the hail I am doing, but that is what the internet is for, RIGHT!?!

So, what do y'all think so far? I don't have a house built for them yet, but they seem to be doing well so far. They like to sleep on the patch of grass, and eat it too.....
. Stupid ducks, you'd think they would leave one area nice, poop on the dirt floor, but NNNOOOOOOO, they want to poop in the grass and LAY in it.......![]()
I robbed that young sabal palm to the left in the top pic for thatching materials.......the fronds were in the way of progress, and they will come back soon. I have a couple large ones that really could use a trim, but the leaves that need to come off are all old and brown....![]()
I think I want to put them on there green, more pliable to work with, and I think it will settle and dry nicely if it all settles together, So, I am sending DH down the road for palm fronds whenever he gets back from feeding the LF...
......I swear he takes 2 hours to feed 30 frikin chickens......![]()
What is the deal with that, is it just a stupid guy thing.....
is he communing with the chickens, or what!?!![]()
OMG, come onthere is work to do, and lots of it!!!!!!!!![]()
Takes me about 1/2 an hour, including travel time for 5 miles one way....
gathering eggs......
going through locked gates, even!!

OK, so now i am going to look up how to thatch that thing. Hopefully I will get that part done today...I am only going to thatch about 2/3 of it so they have shade. The rest I am going to leave open, so they can get sun and rain too....they seem to like the rain....![]()
Good God Tony- Looks like you had a close call there!! Our pine limbs fall like that, but covered in needles....some are pretty big too...

my bigger chicken were like that when i had them and the free ranged...no one told them they were not supposed to like rain...or snow for that matter lolMy chickens are weird. The go out rain or shine. It appears they like a nice shower and the worms the showers bring. The teenage chicken girls I have, run into the coop when it rains or the wind blows too hard. It appears the teens have more sense than the adult.
