LOL, It would be great if there were TINY babies!!!!
They are all too cute!!!!The JG babies are fat and fluffy!!
sorry the one didn't make it, but I agree with your sis, they aren't all going to make it!! And, there could have been something wrong that you couldn't have known about!
The rest will be good, i'm sure!!


My chickens don't know they are not supposed to be out in the rain either....neither do my ducks!!!!!!!!
Silly buggers dance around when it rains, flappin their wings and all...
Speaking of......you should see them stretching out real far and flapping for like a whole minute or 2....I think they are saying Thank You for me giving them the room to stretch and flap at the same time..........

Well, I won't be going anywhere this weekend, don't have the time or the money

I'd even settle for a trip to the beach, but it will be packed with CRAZY people.....I'm just staying home to do stuff ....
Soo, I think I will take the time right now to say HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, and PLEASE:

HOpe all have a terrific weekend-
I will be in and out, on and off.

I have a pic of the progress to post. The only thing that is not in the pic is the wire on the top back 2/3. We did that last night after I got the pic......after dark.......I have decided to go with a thatched roof. I have no idea what the hail I am doing, but that is what the internet is for, RIGHT!?!




So, what do y'all think so far? I don't have a house built for them yet, but they seem to be doing well so far. They like to sleep on the patch of grass,

and eat it too.....

. Stupid ducks, you'd think they would leave one area nice, poop on the dirt floor, but NNNOOOOOOO, they want to poop in the grass and LAY in it.......

Will you still be able to catch water from the roof?
I would do that, have guttering down the back ( seeing as you have a slanted roof any way ) then get some big 50gal drums or a tank. Then you can use the water you collect to fill the duck pond, which you will be doing A LOT!
I would also ( if you haven't already ) a bucket of water for them, to drink from because when you start cleaning out you duck pond you will be amazed at how much poop, mud, poop, mud and poop there will be in the bottom of that thing. It just keeps them from drinking so much of the tub water.

I do have water for them near their food. and ya know, I am not going to build a duck house either. I have some BIG HUGE black nursery pots from trees. I am going to just turn one of those up-side down and cut a hole for them to go into. I think then it will be easier to clean after them. They don't seem to mind sleeping in their poo, but I want to keep the area as clean as possible where they will sleep, so if I do it that way I can just turn the thing over and shovel out the used pine chips and throw more down....turn the big pot back over, voila- done.

I did find a pool pump that I had from the kids last pool, it still works, and I have been pumping out the pond with that. really helps, but have to have 2 people to prime the pump and turn on the thing. I am not using the filter, just moving the water!!!!
YAY- DH went to get stuff for a real door!!
I may get that done today, not sure if I like the idea fo the thatching. I'll do more then decide. will be easy to remove if I don't like it later. I can't afford roofing materials right now, but they are good without roofing temporarily. There is wire on the top.....

I so sorry your fingers hurt! I do understand my DH and I both are still healing up from pulling our wire. We are not done yet. I think we deserve a break today! so we just fooled around today and who know about tomorrow.... lol
Enjoyed playing with my chickens and turkey. I have one little Narri that loves to try to get on my shoulder when I go in their pen, today she got on my back while I was bent over petting some birds and she jumped on my back! DH got her off. lol
