Wow, wish I could get to sleep that early. Had a niece here now for past 2 nights and I don't know how many more this trip, keeps me up kicking/tossing, jabbering in her sleep. (like me, heehee) DH has to sleep in other bedroom, don't think he minds a bit...sigh.I would rather keep more than 1 at a time, not so draining on me when they have a playmate...but this child doesn't like to "share" her time with me, I know, she's spoiled rotten... 9yo

I never got to do the aunt or even grandma thing. My niece lives in Australia. My granddaughter is an air force brat. I am going to see my daughter and granddaughter for a couple of weeks this fall. I go every other year. They are in Vegas. They were there last time I saw them. No i didnt even want to go sightseeing. I just wanted to see them so we stayed home and relaxed.

Yep, your's are spread out. I love it when they are here, usually summer and spring breaks....but I just totally go with the flow and what they want to do, well most of the time...my body has started placing limits though...it's the traveling to pick up or drop off that gets me, 150 mile round trips on most of them and with this beach traveler traffic, well you know, spend lots of time sitting/waiting for the tunnel traffic to flow...yuk Relax, now that sounds so nice, but with this bunch, that happens usually after they have gone home, heehee They are always asking our ages, when we tell them, they are like....that's old, or you don't look or act that old...tell them they won't let me/us....Most are getting into teens/early 20's. I would be in that rocking chair too. I couldnt do the taxi service. I am still hoping DH will get down to GS soon and bring our camper back up here. I want to put it out at momma and daddys place. We would use it a LOT more there. I think he is just dreading the trip and traffic though.

Anyway, I decided to go ahead and let My Precious out. I was correct, she was completely finished. Also, her head was ON TOP of her wing, not under her wing. So, I was completely correct in that she was trying to unzip but couldn't get enough force because of being malpositioned. Also, the first membrane was so tough, is was no wonder she couldn't break it, even though I had removed a thin strip of shell.

So, My Precious is on the floor of the incubator looking like a very wet brand new chick. Her tummy is perfect (always my terror when helping chicks).

The egg that pipped a bit after My Precious, I went ahead and looked at. But, there was some pinkness to the inner membrane, and the chick was also making that clicking sound that I read they make when their lungs are still adjusting to breathing. So, after the tiniest of holes, just enough to see all that, I wrapped her up in a damp paper towel, and back into the incubator.

Of the two eggs that pipped most recently, they are both trying to unzip. One on the bottom row far left looks like it is unzipping incorrectly. The beak is going back and forth horizontally, instead of vertically along the air sack. Anyway, I am going to let it sit there for at least some odd more hours, maybe until tomorrow morning.

The egg on the front bottom row on the right side is unzipping properly. So yeah!

YAY!!!!!!! I did see the cute little tiny chick pics!!! Nice!!!!

Of course, I haven't caught up yet again today......commenting b4 I finish again.....LOL
But, the eggcitement is just too much!! i can't help myself......LOL
