Right now their names are (in order of hatch),
12, My Precious, 7, horizontal, and Baby
I think 12 and 7 are both roosters, and the others girls.
I am TIRED, was up all night watching the incubator, 12 kept trying to eat his siblings, and baby was slow at hatching, and the temps on my incubator STILL don't stay stable.
At 5am there was more frantic peeping, saw that 12 was eating siblings again, that Baby had hatched, AND that the temp was up to 104!!!!!! (It had been 99 and 100 all night). So.....I had to make a spot for the Turkeys in the not quite redone coop, put the chicks where the turkeys had been (extra bathtub), and since I was already up and it was then getting to be 6, feed and let out the young chicks (2 months now I think).
I am in Arizona and not only is it 110 degrees most afternoons now but the bullhead ants are in full swing.and have invaded the 13 week old chicks coop. So tonight my husband has moved the chicks in wth the adults while they are asleep. We have done all the usual things to get rid of the ants with no luck. The adults coop has a large pen and they are let out to free range daily but I am really worried about the chicks reception even tho I know the ants were creatng pain for my little guys and maybe even death.
. In the morning wish us luck for the move to be a calm one. It is so weird to make our pens coyote and hawk proof and the enemy turns out to be 1/2 an inch long. Guess I had better go to bed after a couple long winded prayers. God must get awfully tired of my pestering about such things.
