Chat N Chicknfun Thread

Quote: LOL, my DH's stepdad was a butcher, so he can do that sort of thing and has all the knowledge- I am just not into it, but I can cull if I have an animal that needs it for a reason, other than food. I can't handle seeing something suffer, so I can do that, but processing- I could probably do it with someone else's chickens, and probably mine .....later, after I get so many that I am over the pet factor....LOL Yes, I am a wimp.....LOL

What a jerk! He could have at least let you use the net! That kind of thing just makes me angry- Well, glad you didn't end up with heat stroke!!!
They are fast!
Got the PM,send me pricing details- I have never tried Hickory syrup, sounds like it would be a perfect addition to homemade bbq sauce!!!!! MMMMM ribs, I gotta take them out of the freezer......
Hickory in BBQ sauce would be great! I love BBQ!

i play favorites i cannot lie... my mother atm has a little EE that is a cripple.. shes missing a joint in her leg. i said i dont care we keep her cause shes easy to catch and likely to be a sweet heart. my only thought is oh that poor chicken the kids will be all over her. right now shes just a fuzzy peeper and mom favors her. but.. the mean hens... those can go.. dad has one that pecks at him no matter what. his patience is wearing

OH, yeah, i know how that goes, I had a very aggressive BCM roo, my patience wore thin with that too- the neighbor's dog took care of that problem just as I had decided that he had to go......
was a pretty gruesome scene, but

i have a hen that lost a leg somehow. I still have her. Many people told me to cull her because she would not have very good quality of life, but she gets along ok, and is very sweet!! definitely a pet!!

we lost the barred rock that my daughter used to chase to a dog.. poor thing he a pretty one too. and oh he was chased for hours every day. only pecked her once. i have a thing for deformed or weak animals. i always take the runts, and picked the black kitten just because he was black some how the owner of the mother was ashamed of the black kitten. and we generally always keep the smallest pup from the litter.. i have a feeling that chick will live out her life in the coop and run.

Quote: LOL,My new ones? AAWWWW, Thanks!! They are too cute, and all bantams, so they are really tiny!! i am so egggcited that i got 2 pure silkies!! My silkie hen and roo are show quality....I don't show then o anything like that, not into it, but I just love them to pieces.
I guess I have been lucky so far, I have sweet hens, all of them

The chipmunky one and the dark blue one are the silkies. The 2 yellows are mutts

I am the same way- I definitely gravitate to the weaker, and runty ones as well. Yes, my one legged hen will be here always, I think, too

Gosh people are sometimes stupid, aren't they!?! I offered a very good friend a couple silkies because he thinks they are so pretty, but my DH told him that their meat and bones and skin are black, and he refused them

That is what I hate about living in the south....
Ha Ha, I have 4 little black feral kittens living in my front yard. They are about 7 weeks now, and my daughters are taming them so that when I take them to the humane society, they hopefully can get adopted! They are so sweet and cute!
I lost my black cat of 8 years to the same dog that got my BCM roo-I haven't gotten over that quite yet.....
