Happy to see posts happening here again! I've been so busy these past several months that I haven't had the chance to pop in and say hey!





I personally have no religious or spiritual beliefs, but I think there's a spectrum of beliefs in the regulars here. I think the main point of the thread is that we don't wish to be preached to or chastised for our beliefs (or lack thereof) just because they aren't mainstream.

Well then it's a good thing I ain't here to judge anyone!

As for evolution, my first degree was in ecology and evolutionary biology, so I certainly won't be upset if you talk about that here!

So I was just wondering... what do y'all mean by "non-religious"? like are y'all just not anything Christian? Or are you all Atheists? Is it a mix? Would y'all get upset of I said anything regarding evolution?

I was raised a weird mixture of pagan on one side of the family and southern baptist on the other and nowadays I'm a whole lot of nothing religious to be honest. Agnostic maybe? Like, maybe there's something out there, but I sure haven't seen it and am not bothering to look anymore.

That's cool! For a long time I was like "hmmm... Maybe there's somethin' out there... But whatever it is it definitely ain't all that helpful" and I suppose I'm still like that from time to time

As a bird nerd, I'm tempted to say Jurassic only because it was learning about Archaeopteryx in my initial study about birds that really sparked a fascination for me in evolutionary biology, and Archaeopteryx originated in the Jurassic period. However, the Cretaceous period was when Avialids really diversified and there are so many spectacular and strange species of bird-like creatures that branched off in that period, so I'd be tempted to say Cretaceous as well... Good question!

Quetzalcoatlus, perhaps? I wouldn't know off the top of my head, but a quick internet search says they were in the late Cretaceous. Pretty spectacular pterosaur, they were!

The zoo local to me has giraffes, so I've seen them in person on more than one occasion. To think of a pterosaur as tall as they are is definitely something I'd describe as terrifying!
