Chat room for non religious poultry keepers! :D

Phew, y'all were busy after I logged off for the night! :th

Has anyone ever done a past life regression? I've talked with a friend about doing it, but it hasn't gotten past the, "Hey, that could be cool, we should do that."

I'd never even heard of that before, had to look it up. No, can't say I've done one of those!

Does anyone here use reddit? Is r/backyardchickens based off this site? Or is it just a coincidence

As Dawg said, I'm pretty sure the only social media page actually associated with this site is the Backyard Chickens facebook group. I don't think that the reddit is associated with BYC at all. I do have a reddit account (same username as here), but I haven't been over there in ages and literally never posted or anything when I did go over there regularly. 😅

I was grabbing eggs from a prefab and as i straightened up, a little hawk buzzed past. I think it was swooping for one of the Littles near me and didn't notice me until I suddenly was right there.

Wow!! Did you see what kind it was? That's amazing! Hopefully it got a bit of a shock from that and doesn't come back for your little ones!

I've met several people here on BYC I consider friends, even though we've never met. A lot of them are young enough to be my children (or even grandchildren), or old enough to be my parents (or close to it).

I have been brought to tears by their sad experiences, made to laugh out loud with their funny ones.

Some of them, I'm not sure of their gender, race, age, beliefs. But they are interesting people, and I enjoy chatting with them. That's why I participate in threads like this.

I have always been a firm believer that friendship does not mean having every single thing in common, or even having a lot in common. Some of my closest friends differ from me in many aspects; political, religious, lifestyle, tastes in music and shows, etc. But we still care about each other and the things that we do have in common we enjoy together, and that's what counts. 🙂

Thank you for your patience.

Very sad to see that this was necessary. I very much appreciate the mods' hard work in cleaning the thread up and reopening it rather than just closing it down as with the previous thread, though. ❤️ Thank you!

May I offer a possibility? Perhaps a religious person was sad bc they felt excluded from what is proving to be a very interesting thread? I lurked here for a while until it was stated that religious people are indeed welcome, provided they respect the non-religious nature and intent of the thread. So, color me 😄! This is a great thread!

To be fair, many of us are probably a bit, well, gun-shy about such things because many of the interactions we as people with non-conventional or non-existent religious beliefs have with people of the more conventional religious beliefs in regards to our beliefs are negative. But I do always try to see the best possible intentions in people with things like that, so I'd like to think that those sad reactions are more innocent than my past experiences have indicated they could be. 🙂

I am not the board creator, of course, so I don't know what their intentions were for the thread, but I'd also like to think anyone is welcome as long as religion isn't thrown around and we aren't interrogated or poked at about it.

Tiny, falcon looking. Other than that, not really. It's very possible it does, it met up with another one as it flew away so I think it might be nesting

Ah, man. Raptors are tough to deal with, too. If nothing else, here's hoping they aren't successful in getting at your birds. :fl

I've had a couple close calls with hawks already as well, darn things are starting early on me. Usually we're pretty safe from them until October when the leaves are mostly off the trees, but I've had two scares with them in the past month or so now. :barnie

I haven't seen much in the way of hawks around but we have buzzards like crazy around here I keep a close eye on the pullets our coop is thankfully on the edge line of our wood so lots of cover. They can always scurry under the rabbit hutch too if they're on the other side. I need to get the other run up this weekend for them to duck Into its much bigger then the one that's out there but they mostly free range that's just for them to get air until I get out at 8 am lol

We have a hawk that has been getting more bold here too! Those buggers scare the crap out of me (and my girls of course)! I'm always telling them, "Eyes on the skies, ladies..." 👀
