Chat room for non religious poultry keepers! :D

Got referred to a derm for a lymph nod that likes to come and go on swelling, and orthopedic for my hip. :caf

Chicken front literally playing hot potato on being redirected on where to get the right swabs so I can take sample of mg birds to test for coryza and MG :he This state has some of the top poultry experts in the country and it like running in circles because the local backyard flock community distrusts the government so much.

Happier note, got RSVP for Purim party at synagogue :wee gotta fiddle with my costume idea.

Ah, man, I hope all goes well with your appointments. :fl

And with your birds, coryza and MG are some nasty diseases to deal with. :hmm I hear you on the distrust, there's a lot of that around here as well. Hopefully you get some answers on that soon, too.

I had to look up what Purim was, sounds fun! 😁

My weeks been mostly good. Still on high alert for infected chickens from the silkie conundrum, the girls have been laying well, Big Red (the aseel, I made it official I really like it) is doing great with his girl, and Kolovos (the landrace rooster) is taking care of his girls as he has done for the past two years. The dogs are great, fish and invertebrates are great too. Spring is upon us, so my million succulents are perking back up. Can't wait for the weather to get even better, and maybe some broodies:fl? Here is a picture of some of this week's eggsView attachment 3412879

Pretty eggs! I'm ready to get hatching as well, broody or not. The weather's not feeling very springy here today, though, ugh. This has been the least wintery winter I think I've ever experienced living here, but it's so cold and icy out today like it's reminding us that it is, in fact, still winter after all!

Yeah, we confused them when we brought birds for necropsy worry about AI. People here either throw random antibiotics or Essential oils over actually try to find root problem :hmm I gave my two birds LA 200 which helped with their suffering but gotta test them to see if they have the antibodies.

Same here, no quarantining effort at all and then they only treat until the symptoms go away instead of the full week / however many days you're supposed to for a particular treatment, then, surprise, it doesn't work the next time they need it. Or throw VetRx at it and hope it helps. Permethrin is pretty much useless against external parasites here because of that behavior so I had to shell out for Elector PSP when my birds were infested a few years back. Hopefully your birds come back clean, that's a tough diagnosis to handle if not. :fl
