Because I was doing more research and was glad to see that I wasn't wrong in my guess. I was afraid I was gonna look like an idiot and that horses were faster superior in everything but the water requirement
Is this for something in your writing? Camels are a fun choice!
I've been doing some world building this past week or so because my sister asked me to DM a few tabletop sessions for her and my niece and nephew to see how they do with it, and one of the regions I put together uses these huge birds called Axe Beaks instead of horses for transport and racing. They aren't faster than horses, but locally found wild, and their beaks are like razors that they can slash with.

Not that there's anything wrong with horses, of course, just sometimes you want something a little different depending on the setting.
