Chat Thread for the New Crazy 24 hour Auction

The far right top one looked silvery light and dark as it came out... the darkest one was the early pip, absorbed all his yolk just fine...

Still have 2 open and still alive, just had to take a break... no other pips yet, but think I saw a couple moving... I'll get better pics when they fluff out, too... :D

The far right one is a blue. Next to it the gray, then the light blue possible lavender/silver and then the white. Will wait for better pics but the blue one looks like it may be pied.

It's definitely a chore hatching out these little tiny babies but so worth it :)

I am going to go ahead and list the OEGB and some d'Uccles. And maybe do a couple more auctions tonight...

I am guessing you are right that blue one is pied... it has a tiny dark blaze down middle of beak too... another dark one (gray?) is out and well... 6th one is may or may not make it, needs time...

Adding that 6th didn't make it...

I love these little guys!! :)

Thanks ladies. I just love them too. My only problem is that I want some of every color and am running out of room at my current place LOL. Soon I will have a bigger place and plenty of room to expand the flock :)

Well thanks to these threads my sportsman is FULL. I might be able to set another dozen, maybe. Got some hatching next weekend for Easter hatchalong so that'll clear a lot of space out.

I've got 1 stinking ancona hen still laying infertile eggs. Guess I'm going to have to dye butts to figure out who it is.

Explain the dying of the butts. Food coloring? Some other trick? Inquiring minds and all that!

I Squirt food coloring up their butt. Lol. Some people smear lipstick but I'm afraid that it would clog the pores in the eggs. You get some very colorful poop too!

If they're infertile the lipstick wouldn't hurt anything though. Food coloring would be safe for hatching eggs to be identified from each hen.

Then do people sell eggs with food coloring on them for identification? I'd think it would be nice to know the exact parents, or at least hen, for records, but I can see that freaking out some folks!

I thought about trying to do that with my geese but have just been doing pen #s instead this year.
