Chat Thread for the New Crazy 24 hour Auction

I feed Dumor 20% Starter/Grower ($16) and I feed it to everyone with free choice oyster shell. In the winter when I don't have any chicks, I will switch to Dumor Layer (13.50). My scratch comes from one of the 2 local farm stories (an Agway and an Ag & Turf). 50# is less than $10 and there is buckwheat, barley, oats, corn and sunflower seeds in it. In winter I will pick up an extra 50# bag of course cracked corn ($6-8) and mix it heavy on the corn.
I wanted to feel like I was saving money, I could get 16% grower from the mill for $8-10 for 50#, but there is a lot of fine powdery stuff in the bottom that the birds waste. In the end, I found it's the same, or even a bit cheaper to just buy the name brand stuff.

Someday I want to mix my own feed. It would be more expensive in the short term, but with 20-22% protein and no more powder or crumbles for the birds to waste or overlook, I am pretty sure I'd save in the end. Plus, I wouldn't need scratch anymore. I have a thread where I was looking for recipes and came up with a decent one.

I use FRM 15% layer pellets. It costs $10.00 for 50lb at ACE hardware store. I also give oyster shell free choice. During a moult I add some 32% protein floating catfish feed to their layer feed

Someone found the roost! I got a LOT done today. (drop in the bucket!). Among other things, I dug a lot of eggs out of the now dried up mud in the pens and a bunch of them exploded. UGH. Trash pickup is tomorrow so today was the day to do that. I am so exhausted and still have to feed a zillion Seramas, chicks, quail, and turkeys in the mudroom. Then have to get up early in the morning for an appointment. Calgon, take me away!
Looks great! I like that neat little pen. Thanks for the link...I just ordered one to see if it will work for me. Is the water staying away?

I have friends that grind non-gmo layer feed for a guy who has a couple thousand chickens.I buy for $280.00 a ton.You should look around and see if anyone sells by the ton.

Great idea about the catfish feed. Do you ever give it for other reasons?
I do the exact same thing for my.ohiki! That long tail need protein to grow.

None of these ebay eggs were fertile. I incubated them for 24 days. I am returning them to the seller. No I am not bubble wrapping nor double boxing. Im putting them in a grocery bag in a box with wasps
