Chat Thread for the New Crazy 24 hour Auction

I'm wanting to add some more diversity to my egg basket and would like to get a breed that lays truly white eggs. Anyone have any ideas for me on breeds that would be an option? I already have brown, pink, blue and I'm hoping to get Isbars this spring for green.

How about Olive eggers?
There are quite a few olive Eggers that are auto sexing. They are not breeds as such but I know a few sellers.

What shades of brown do you have? Light, medium and dark?

Welsummers have nice terracotta eggs.
Marans have really good chocolate brown eggs.

I really like white eggs, although I have found that they are not as prized in the US because your store bought eggs are white. Leghorns are great for white.

I know a couple of ducks that lay grey eggs but I'm not sure about chickens, I'll have a look.

Some EEs have eggs with plum blooms but they are few and far between.

I have light, medium brown eggs already and getting BCMs this spring. I have blue and pink and am getting Isbars for green this spring as well. I want a pretty chicken that lays pure white eggs to set off the other colors that I have.

I love the look of a good white egg to set off all the other colors. You really can't beat Leghorns for laying. I don't care for white birds myself, so I go with the brown Leghorns. Other options are breeds like Andalusian and Mincora. Depends on how great a layer you want, and what plumage color.

Thanks for the input!!!!! I have a thing for any 'blue' chickens but I really need to branch out a little. I'll check those breeds out!!! Additional input still welcome! :)

I had an excellent leghorn hybrid called Zazzles. I raised her from a chick and she was extremely tame.

I believe the cross was called a white star. It combined the excellent egg laying qualities of leghorns with the tameness of a sex-link.

I'm getting a similar cross again soon but this one will look like a partridge leghorn.

I'm pretty sure you can get blue andulasians ;)

Lakenvelders are also nice white egg layers with quite a unique look.

Appenzeller Spitzhaubens are adorable and lay lovely little white eggs.
