Then maybe you won't need that replacement shipment after all.

People are reporting back the most incredible hatch percentages on the eggs they get from me. I think I hit on the perfect method of packing. :yiipchick

It's really amazing, I would never have expected them to develop. You must be doing something right! Even after their trip to Hawaii, the post office only managed to smash one of them.

O.K., ladycat, we expect to see a tutorial page with your packing method now.

I posted this last year: http://agricommunity.com/packing-eggs-to-ship/

I have modified my method a little bit, but it's still basically the same.

I'm wrapping the eggs in paper towels first instead of newspaper, and instead of padding the box with newspaper, I'm using more shavings and bubble wrap. Also lately I have begun putting a "bumper" of extra bubble wrap and shavings around the inside wall of the box, to provide a thicker cushioning between the eggs and the walls of the box. I started doing that when people occasionally reported a broken egg. I think that will pretty nearly eliminate the chance of broken eggs.

I think wrapping them first with paper towels is a great idea. This keeps the eggs dry and let them breathe better. Sometimes, I'd get eggs wrapped in bubble wrap that are slightly damp when I unpack them. Usually, these develop blood rings.

I keep both ends of the bubble wrap open, making a tube. They can definitely breathe. I suppose the shavings also absorb any stray moisture that's floating around.

I think there is something to the paper towel wrapping... makes sense too if you think about the varying temps in shipping and condensation on the egg... idk...
