Chat Thread for the New Crazy 24 hour Auction

This is what I'm dealing with. And they're saying more heavy downpours tonight. That's the exact phrasing the weatherman used: "heavy downpours".

I found two dead ones bogged down in the mud today.

I'm gathering up all the cardboard, old boards, and whatever else I can find to lay in the pens.

Lady cat~ So sorry you are going through this....Praying the rain stops and you have some nice drying weather.

So very sorry for your losses... :hugs I see trees behind your pens, are those on your property? If they are, maybe trim off some small branches or pieces and lay them down in your pens? Just a thought... hope it gets better fast!

Those are the neighboring property.

Just a thought... do you have a bunch of used feed bags or maybe some earthbags?

Fill them up with dirt from your property and lay them over the worst mud areas. At least the chickens can walk on that and not sink into the mud. When this is over then just empty the bag of dirt into your pen.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I hope the weather gets better for you soon!

That seems like a good idea. Put anything down to keep them out of the mud. Kern

That's what my pens look like in some areas.
Ladycat I am so sorry.

Mine two. I have tarps over the tops of my pens but the rain still blows in on the sides and backs. That is why I put pallets and 1x6 boards in the pens to give the birds a place besides their roots to get out of the mud and to help me get to them.

My quail eggs are fertile!

The first batch I put in the incubator are due today, and 1 has hatched.

These are the first 30 eggs I got. Size is all over the place, and I suspect some might be double yolkers. So I don't know how many will hatch altogether, but whatever I get is exciting.

I have 10 more eggs due the 21st, and 30 more due the 25th, and another 34 due the 2nd. I'm anxious to see how many babies I end up with.
