hello people can i make a coop out of say a cardborad box or something that could hold 1-2 chickens (hens) pekins something like for free

Dont see a problem really unless they`ll be in it all day.

chickens+card board coop= destroyed coop. The chickens will spill water and poo on it so the bottom would fall apart with a few days. They will also try to eat the box. In my opinion that is not a good idea. If you're talking about for just one of maybe two days it might work.

You mention pekin? those are ducks... either way i wouldn't it'll be dead in a few days and wouldn't protect against nothing predator or weather wise...

Better to take some scrap wood and make a box.

Pekins are bantam cochins.

Pekins are not only ducks and a name for bantam cochins but another breed in themselves. They are very similar to bantam cochins, that is why they are sometimes called Pekins too. Someone was not being very creative

You could put them in their for a day or two while you build something better. Even a xx-large dog kennel would work for a little while. Eventually you'll want nesting boxes and bigger waterers. You could build a little tractor, mine is basically a wire cage with an open bottom and then a ramp to a enclosed shelter with nesting boxes. That works great for a few chickens.

Ah gotcha! either way boxes are so quickly destroyed.. I find chickens adore to pick at things!
