That is not going to be predator proof or weather proof. It might work for day time shelter from the sun, but without lots of upgrading, I don't think it is practical. Hate to be a downer here, but I know in this territory, it would never work.
Have you looked thru the coop section of BYC to get some ideas? Many of these coops were pretty cheap to build. Look into the tractors as well. They are small, easy to build and don't cost much either...
