Sharing incase anyone else is looking for a cheap DIY solution to sifting.

I have a pretty large poop board for my guineas. It’s 3 feet deep and it is a chore... and let’s be honest... Sifting in the winter sucks. I needed a quick way to get the job done. I’ve seen scoopers made with stall rakes which is genius but I didn’t have one on hand.

I found this deep dust pan at the Dollar Store a while back. I believe it was a 2 pack too. Used a heated utility knife blade to cut out hole in dust pan. Cut 1/4” HC to fit. Glued HC down with my favorite super glue E6000. Added some weight to HC ends and let cure for 72 hours. It works great! All for 3 bucks-ish. Not bad!

This could work with any size dust pan. Happy sifting!!

That’s what I had as well. This thing rocks! Definitely let the glue set longer than expected. I put a bead on dust pan, placed HC down, and another very generous bead on top. It took a while to set being materials used. I placed paint cans to keep HC pressed against pan

Necessity is the mother of invention!
One of the things I like best about keeping chickens is you see all kinds of things to use for them...with some clever modification.

    Poopcicles!
Less PDZ on board means less sifting(goes faster when your fingers are frickin frozen), mines down to about a 1/8" layer.

Mine is only 2' deep(front to back) I use a short handled hoe(nice for scraping off the frozen ones) and a fine mesh basket gets all the poops. I added a piece of wood to basket for a better handle and mostly so mesh doesn't bend and crack.

A board under the roost to catch the poops from when they are sleeping. It makes it easier to clean, because the poop can be scraped or scooped if the board instead of it all going into the litter on the floor.
