Cheapest Price on Hardware Cloth

I am in the process of building a new coop/run. I am going to cover the whole thing in 2X4 welded wire fence and then use 36" wide 1/2" hardware cloth around the bottom. I paid $46 for 36" X 25' of hardware cloth from Lowes. I got 2 rolls so that's $92 + tax. I cannot remember what they were charging for the 48" but I know the 24" wasn't much less than the 36".

I know I could have probably ordered it from somewhere and had a better deal but I am impatient and the fact it is 10 minutes from home makes me feel better! LOL

On this link to wayfair, http://www.wayfair.com/Mat-Mesh-Hardware-Cloth-308B-BFJ1001.html
24" x 600"(50ft) is 33.78 x 2 would equal 67.56 ...now it's free shipping for orders over 69.00
not sure where you saw the 100 ft x 24", it's not listed..but basically this is the same price except for the shipping that it's been for awhile now.
Still cheap in my opinion:)

Just did some checking 'cause I'm about to enclose the "free-range" part of the yard - 25' x 50' - and I need quite a bit. I agree with Jakoda - Wayfair shows 33.78 for 24" x 600", and 52.94 for 36" x 600". I'll need 3 rolls, so shipping's free...total for 3 rolls = 158.82 (3'). Can't find anything less expensive - although McCoy's Building Supplies in San Marcos, TX shows 36" x 100' for 119.99 - $14.00 more than buying 2 rolls from Wayfair, and I don't have to wait for it. Check with McCoy's, TinaG...not sure where you are in SA, but there appear to be 3 stores in SA, one in Universal City, and, of course, San Marcos - also shows one in New Braunfels, but I'm not familiar with that one.

Down side for most BYCers - McCoy's operates only in TX, NM, OK, AR, and MS.

Good luck to everyone...the stuff ain't cheap, but it sure is necessary!

I know this thread is from 2012 but I stumbled upon it just now while searching for hardware cloth myself and am wondering if these prices are still similar or if they've gone way up. Also wondering whether I should use bigger welded wire and just use HC on the bottom few feet or use HC for the whole thing. The latter would probably get expensive but might look better and be more secure. I don't know. It's going to be an 8 foot by 50-60 foot area and I need it at least 6 or 8 feet tall. Maybe not 8 foot but I am 5 11 and my dad's 6 3 so i don't wanna have to duck or have it right on top of my head. Seems like it's gonna get expensive fast without even the coop part

Like you I also stumble onto this post. So this is what I found. D:eek:ending on your needs I found 2 that you might consider.
A: Lowes has Steel wire Remesh with larger openings 5'x150' @ $98.00
B: Home Depot has 4'x150' galvanized 1" Poultry netting for $74.96. They will ship to store or your home free.

So if you need alot there are some options to not spend a fortune.

I'm pricing out my hardware cloth and here's a link to my findings so far: https://goo.gl/SkeSWP

It looks like Jet has the best pricing per square inch regardless of mesh size (1/2 inch or 1/4 inch). Hopefully this will help others.

I'd love to hear if there's any other sources that would be cheaper.

Wanted to mention, Lowe's will give you a $5 off $50 if you sign up for email. Which everyone in my family recently did so I could use repeated coupons for my coop supplies. :)

Good tip for Lowe's. I think they also have a 10% off coupon for those who've changed their address thru USPS.

From what I see, Amazon has better straight pricing per square inch for hardware cloth (50' roll).

Jet is the cheapest with their current 15% off for first time orders.

Sears Marketplace is also competitively priced, especially if you have ShopYourWay rewards points and/or participate in cash back programs (eg credit cards or website portals like ebates).
