check me out

after looking at some more pictures on the breed chart, i would have to say he is plymouth rock, or holland. leaning more towards plymouth. so i guess the pullets i have from this farm will be the same breed. they are good egg layers. i also have rhode island reds and gold comets, from hatchery. the chics i just hatched are a mix, yellow, red, yellow with chipmunk stripes, black, black with silver/white.

Your guy in question would be one of the black chicks. All cuckoo colored birds start out as such.

I am familiar with Greencastle, IN. I grew up south of Jasper, IN near a town called Dale.

Does the farm also produce barred American Holland of barred Holland chickens? I am trying to get them from more than one source.

i'm not sure if they do, i know the guys daughter has cuckoo marans and sells hatching eggs on ebay. here is a better picture of the rooster. those are my chics that hatched yesterday and friday.

To be honest, I can not tell a dominique of some strains from a barred rock of same strains if the type of comb can not be used. Some dominique strains, even those of reputed show quality, have recent infusions of barred rock to improve definition of bars. A geneticists would very likely have same problem. Like bars on their the feathers, differences between dominiques and barred rocks are now shades of grey.
