Gold father + silver mother, yes always sexlinks. (But some chicks have down color that makes it hard to see when they're little--Golden Laced Wyandottes and Silver Laced Wyandottes, for example.)

Gold mother + Silver father = not sexlinks.

Genetics can certainly be complicated.

And it's hard to know where to start, because each thing affects so many other things.

For example, most black chickens are genetically "silver": but you can't tell by looking, because a different gene covers the silver with black so you can't see it.

I found out that my chicks where produced from a sex link cross, the barred-rock /Cemanis anyway,my other chicks are still a mystery
