love it! Now that is a brooder. I also wonder what the pine shaving thing was about. I have only ever used pine shavings. I have seen the chicks seem like they were eating it. I have never lost one from it.
 
I would be afraid that kitty litter might make those babies sick if they ate it......sand is a great idea!

p.s. I love that brooder!
