Check out my new coop on wheels

I would move out anything that I could. Go to pool store or big box hardware store and pick up a couple of bottles of liquid chlorine, then using a presure washer, siphoning the chlorine through the washer, I'd clean this thing out top to bottom.
Then a high press rinse, let dry, and away you go.

People say I'm getting crankier as I get older. That's not it. I just find I enjoy annoying people a lot more now. Especially younger people!!!

I was thinking the same thing or maybe stop at the car wash On the way home. If you do not have a pressure washer.

Wow! This is such a brilliant idea for a coop.

I beg to differ from the bleach proponents, but I am a cleaning lady by trade and can say for certain that bleach does not "clean". Bleach disinfects.

My cleaner of choice is ammonia -- dilluted three parts water to one part ammonia. This ratio will clean like crazy without asphyxiating you. Any method you choose. I use regular spray bottles and wipe up with paper towels. It's the cleanest clean I know and no residue remains.

If you feel the need to use bleach to disinfect -- old urine stains, mold, mildew -- allow the ammonia to dry completely before using bleach. Mix regular household bleach to 8 parts water to 1 part bleach. Do not ever mix bleach with ammonia.

I'm eager to see this set up as a coop when you are finished. This will certainly be predator proof!

I called on that yesterday... we were just discussing whether to call back in the morning! My husband is trying to find an alternative to giving up "his" barn for "my" chickens.

I do have a pressure washer, but wouldn't that ruin the wood inside? I think today I'll scrape off the first layer and see what's below.

I had to read this twice. I thought it was filthy because dirty PEOPLE had lived in it.

I vote power washer & ammonia. And, please, you remember to wear a mask if you are scraping poo.
