It is 200 sq feet (actually maybe 250) and there are 18 chickens. Two of them are Silkie roos who need a new home. And 6 of them are Leghorns who are small. Is 11 sq feet per bird not enough space? I read that they need atleast 5 sq ft of space per bird, so I wanted to double that. Also their coop is huge.
Nicely done! I like the "rustic" look of the wood and it looks like you used some salvaged doors. Great job. Plus I think you've got plenty of room to add lots more chicks.

Thanks! The whole thing cost us around $400 or just under. That includes everything- fence, lumber, hardware, sand, etc. We used a lot of stuff from the old shed that we tore down (those nice boards for the siding, tin, the boards for the floor, etc)
More chickens? Did somebody say MORE CHICKENS????
Okay I admit I have a problem.... atleast I'm not in denial.
NE Georgia, huh? Post some pics of those silkies.... just in case I get that new coop for Christmas
Good job. Good to have a place for younger chooks too. Roomy coop and well ventilated. I would look into adding hardware cloth to bottom of all chicken wire around both runs. Coons, coyotes, and dogs all can rip up chicken wire like nothing. Run size looks too small too. When you can get posts and wire, enlarge it. Also be aware that many preds can climb in to that being that it is 4 ft tall. Electrifiction is the real deal to stop that.
Nice set up. I like the dual runs, can they choose which they want to go in or are they separate? I see your run fence is only about 4' high, that doesn't keep mine contained...but then again they free range and can go in and out of the fence part of my yard as they see fit.
Nice job.
