Check out the coop I built!

Looks pretty cool!
How big is the coop itself?

It’s about 1.5m x 1m, the height inside is about 1.5m. That excludes the nest box.

We had 10 chooks in there, we’re down to 7 now we’ve figured out the boys. Planning to keep 5 as this will be more manageable with the garden size and coop!

Looks good, the door automatic?

Eventually I would change the OSB door to standard wood. Maybe seal the outside and the bottom of the door very well for it to last a while for now. Rain will run down to the bottom and the OSB soak it up and swell. If you have OSB under the wood chips I would have it sealed or covered also. Not to be negative, but once it gets wet and swells it loses half its strength.

Thanks! Yep, door is an automatic one, rigged it up using a tutorial I found online, despite knowing jeff all about electronics. Been going strong for 6 months now!

Good shout on the OSB, probably not the best material to use. I’d like to move to sheet metal at some point as it would be more lightweight and durable but so far it’s working good. It’s quite sheltered from the elements I guess.

The coop floor is OSB with vinyl flooring over the top. :)

I got a slider door like yours but I manually do it from outside the coop and run with a cable. Water would get in and run down like I said. I built a shed roof for the chicken door. I just added some tin on it later.

What motor or plunger did you use for the door?

Biggest shed roof over chicken door build goes to Aart. :lau

Yeah aart's is great! I don't have the clearance for something sizeable since there's a fence about 5' from coop door, which is why I went with a smaller removable option. Also my prevailing winds don't blow towards the pop door, so it just needed to be big enough to buffer wind driven rains instead of fully covering it.
